Donald A. Rodriguez, born March 24, 1930, gained his angel wings on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the age of 87. He was a resident of St. Tammany Parish for over 20 years and was a former longtime resident of Jefferson Parish. Donald is survived by his stepdaughter, Bonnie Balaski, and his grandchildren, Debbie Foster and Leslie Wallace (Johnny). PePaw of Zachary and Hannah Wallace. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, Sadie Rodriguez and Louelle Rodriguez; his parents, Charles and Alice Rodriguez; his siblings: Charles, Edmond, Emmanuel, Andrew, Merlin and Ronald Rodriguez and Beverly Prudhomme; his stepson, Peter Licali; and his grandsons, Cal Tracy and Peter "PJ" Licali.
Donald was a good, fun loving, and generous man who was the life of the party. He enjoyed family time, dining out, fishing, betting the horses, and breakfast with his Mandeville McDonald friends. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville. Donald served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Falstaf Brewery and ABF Freight Company, and retired from Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office where he worked as a process server. The family would like to give special thanks to Canon Hospice for their care and compassion over the last week of his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until Mass time. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the National World War II Museum at www.nationalww2museum.org.
