Verna Clarete Lanier Theriot

Verna left this world to walk with our Lord in His Kingdom on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the age of 85. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, James Emile Theriot and her parents John Samuel and Geneva McDowell Lanier and survived by her daughters, Kimberly Ann Ramke (Steve) and Stephanie Rene Williamson (Kelly), a granddaughter, Brooke Elizabeth Williamson, two siblings, Addie Lou Hancock and Donald Lanier, two sisters-in-law, Maudrie Grezaffi and Sandra Ellis and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Henry, Huey and Alonzo Lanier and eight sisters, Quinnie Mae Tyler, Camille Stafford, Lorena Fletcher, Etta Bozeman, Lois Anderman, Melissa (Janie) Carroll, Lora Cutrer, Kay Fairburn have also preceded her in death.
Born in Corbin, LA, Verna resided in Kenner for the last 61 years. In her younger years, she attended business school and worked as a bookkeeper with Texaco and First National Bank of Commerce, but eventually chose to stay at home to rear her family. Verna was active in her local government and community. She was a member of the Westgate Country Club for over 35 years, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenner for over 55 years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001.
