Trudy Darlene Massicot Charrier, 71, was reunited with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on February 16, 2021. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Trudy was an outstanding wife, mother and homemaker to her family. She had a big heart and enjoyed gardening, playing the piano and singing hymns, interior design and lots of shopping. She enjoyed participating in church activities including choir and teaching Vacation Bible School; giving to God’s Kingdom’s Work around the World.
She is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 51 years, Floyd R Charrier, Jr,; and her four devoted children: Mindy Charrier Powell (Tommy), Jeffrey Charrier (Yvette), John Charrier (Temi), and Aimee Charrier. She was adored by her 7 grandchildren and was affectionately known as “GiGi”: Joshua Powell, Katie Charrier, Bradley Charrier, Andrew Charrier, Kate Charrier, Karly Charrier and Lakelyn Charrier. Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, David F and Bavel G Massicot; and her sister, Janice Massicot Davenport. She is survived by her brother, David F Massicot, Jr. (Chasity) and a host of nephews and niece.
Trudy was born on October 28, 1949 in New Orleans and grew up in Metairie. She met Floyd in 1961 when he joined Lakeside Baptist Church. It was there that they both made professions of faith and became believers and followers of their Lord and Savior Jesus. Floyd knew instantly that she would be his soulmate one day. Through thick and thin, from job changes, several moves, tragic events, their love never wavered. Along the way, they made many fond memories, including traveling around the world (despite her fear of flying).
Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and love and prayers by so many have carried her through the last 10 years as she battled the effects of Lewy Body Dementia. She received the best care that money could not buy, the love and devotion of her husband and primary caregiver, Floyd. A very special thank you to all the various outside caregivers and hospice service providers.
