Tribute

Todd Leslie McKinnon
1960-2021
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --/ I took the one less traveled by, / and that has made all the difference.”
“The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost.
Todd McKinnon was a man that always took the road less traveled, the scenic route, he loved taking the highways and byways. Todd was such a kind-hearted and generous man; he was never too busy for a hug or game of UNO with his 5 grandchildren.
Todd had many loves. He was an aspiring photographer, farmer, fisherman, craftsman, trail hiker, self-taught guitar player, UNO champion, sketch artist, botanist, genealogist, a great leader, a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and most importantly an amazing Dad and Paw-Paw. Todd spent every free moment he had marveling in the beauty of God’s nature. He took not one sunrise or sunset for granted. His favorite moments were waking up before the dawn and greeting the new day with a hot cup of coffee or tea. When his late mother, Gloria McKinnon, became an avid birdwatcher during her retirement, Todd grabbed his binoculars and jumped right in alongside her. Many Sundays were spent in search of the many birds and wildlife of Southeastern Louisiana. . . .and he always made sure to have his hummingbird feeders ready to go for the start of spring.
Todd was the official family photographer. No family milestone, gathering or vacation was complete without him setting up the tripod and taking forever to set up the perfect shot.
He was so smart and yet he was a life-long learner, if he didn’t know the answer to a question, he would research it sideways, backwards, and forwards. He was known for asking a million questions, which, as the youngest of 4 children, was incredibly endearing and exhausting.
After reading A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson, Todd set out on one of his greatest adventures, backpacking across the entire Maryland section of the Appalachian Trail with his son, Ryan, and son in law, Brent.
Todd was a proud graduate of Loyola University of New Orleans and a dedicated employee, working as a Senior Regional Director of International Freight and Transportation Services at Livingston International in the freight forwarding industry for 41 years.
Todd was called to the Big Farm in the Sky by his Heavenly Father on April 23, 2021 at 12:16 AM and was reunited with his late parents Gloria McKinnon, Leslie McKinnon, and oldest brother Tim McKinnon. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his devoted family. He will be forever missed by his wife of 40 years, Patricia, children, Dori (Brent Kice) and Ryan (Mary Scott), and 5 grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life for Todd at Celebration Church, 2001 Airline Dr. in Metairie on Friday, May 7, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM followed by a service at 11:00 AM.
