Stephen J. Philburn passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday May 17, 2025 at the age of 69. He was born in Washington D.C. on August 27, 1955 and at the age of 9 months moved to Metairie, Louisiana. He was born to the late Robert T. Philburn and Lois M. Philburn. He was preceded in death by his brother Barry T. Philburn (Gloria R. Philburn). Stephen is survived by his mother, Lois M. Philburn; his children, Brendan T. Philburn, Brittany E. Philburn, and Natalie A. Philburn; and his sister, Nancy A. Philburn. He is also survived by his nieces, Jennifer P. Billiot (Brad Billiot) and Christina E. Philburn (William Bradford) and great nieces and nephew, Avery, Adeline, Aubrie, and William Jr., other family members and many lifelong friends. He attended St. Mary Magdalen Grammar School and East Jefferson High School. Steve spent his career in sales, where his way with words and straightforward nature served him well. He retired from Scott-Macon. One of his favorite parts of the job was feeding people - he was known for bringing food to vendors, coworkers, his nurses, therapists, and pharmacists just to brighten their day and stay connected. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, he never missed a chance to root for his team—win or lose. He had a lifelong love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and a true appreciation for the freedom of the open road. He was also a devoted fan of LSU sports and followed the Tigers with pride, whether it was football, baseball, or basketball. Above all, he was a family man—his greatest joy came from being a father, son, brother, and uncle. He loved his family deeply and showed it in countless ways. He lived life on his own terms and leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Garden of Memories Funeral Home in Metairie. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, honor Steve by sharing a good meal with someone you love—he believed food brought people together.
