Rose Mary Scallan Newman

Rose Mary Scallan Newman passed away at her home on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the age of 78. Beloved wife of the late Max Newman. Devoted mother of 4 children: Karen Stokes (David), Scott Verdin, Cynthia Wilson (Matt), and Kenneth Verdin. Also survived by 10 grandchildren: Ashlee Stokes, Meghan Stokes, Paige Verdin, Trent Verdin, Madelyn Verdin, Brandon Verdin, Paige Wilson, Austin Wilson, Kailyn Verdin-Scarpero, and Kaleb Verdin. Daughter of Agnes Mayeaux and Aaron Scallan and sister of Shirley Varnado, Judy Bolfa, Jane Villars, Robert Scallan, Gene Scallan, and Harold Scallan. Rose Mary is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Rose Mary was born in Mansura, LA and moved to New Orleans, LA to be a wonderful homemaker and raise her 4 children.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Tharp Sontheimer Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. Metairie, LA 70001 on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM. A Graveside Service will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70001 at 2:15 PM.
