Rolando Barquero

Rolando Barquero passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the age of 73. He is the son of the late Maria and Julio Andres Barquero. Brother of Elva Welker, Enrique Barquero, Jose Barquero, Noriana Barquero Sierra, Rene Barquero, Rina Mejia, Belinda Barquero, Javier Barquero and the late Julio Cesar Barquero, Rodolfo Barquero, and Nora Barquero. Also survived by nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Rolando was born in La Ceiba, Honduras and grew up in the Barrio Engles neighborhood where he was known as "Chicho". He won the first ever swimming contest held in La Ceiba and moved to the U.S.A. in 1973. He worked as a civilian seaman for the Merchant Marines and loved traveling all over the world.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and also on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 9:00 am until service begins at 10:00 am followed by interment.
