“Rober” “Daddy” “Papi” was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. From a young age, he was fascinated by geography and historical events. At El Colegio de Infantes, his high school in Guatemala, he was the bass drummer for the school marching band. He graduated from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala with a pre-law bachelor’s degree. He had the great honor of serving his country as a soldier in the Army reserves. He worked in sales as a passionate and personable salesman in the Insurance and Automotive industries. He made everyone he came across in life feel like they were a longtime friend. He was the first President of the social club, The Association of Guatemala “AGL” in Louisiana and he also served as Vice President and President of the social club, Unidad Hispanoamericana. Through his passion for writing, he contributed to the AGL by writing and publishing the social publication “El Chapincito” He was an outgoing socialite who loved to speak publicly and was always ready with a joke up his sleeve at any moment in time. He really loved to make people laugh. He loved all sports, he played first baseman in a semi-pro Guatemalan baseball league. He loved to watch futbol “Soccer” and the New Orleans Saints play football. He was a true gourmand- he loved to eat “food for food’s sake”. He loved to spend time with his family and made beautiful memories with his wife, children and grandchildren. His children were blessed to have him, alongside his wife Cony to take care of all his grandchildren in the first years of their lives. He had such a positive outlook on life and was truly an eternal optimist, even through his sickest moments, he would say “this time next year, we will be dancing and drinking tequila in celebration!”
