In loving memory of Rafael Antonio Canessa, Sr. who went home to be with the Lord Tuesday afternoon, September 11, 2018 at the age of 70. Born April 7, 1948 to the late Mario Canessa and late Rosa Canessa. His siblings are Arminda Delgado, Rosa Canessa, Mario Canessa, Martha Sonia Avila, and the late Dina Delgado. Beloved husband to Amalia Canessa, the love of his life; father to Rafael Canessa Jr., Elizabeth Canessa Norton (son-in-law, Richard Anthony Norton), and Ricardo Antonio Canessa (daughter-in-law, Peggy Canessa); grandfather to Brittany Alexis Canessa Aurillo, Carlie Angelica Canessa, and Christian Antonio Canessa; uncle to Jenny Delgado, Lisa Ann Palmer (spouse, Wayne Palmer), Brian England (spouse, Amanda England), Blanca Abrego, Edwin Delgado, Melissa Canessa Silva (spouse, Masito Silva), and the late Mario Canessa; great uncle to Josey Portillo, Jenny Portillo, Justin Portillo, Joshua Portillo, Brian England Jr, Briannah England, Laylah England, Gabriella Burrell, Dakota Canessa, Nahum Abrego, Noe Abrego, Nahal Abrego, Karen Carlos, Jasmine Delgado; and great-great uncle to Juan Carlos.
Rafael was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, best friend, and friend! He was full of love, life, and kindness. He loved to help others! Loved his family and wanted his children near him. He always dreamed big and enjoyed making others laugh. He was the owner of Airline Treasures. He was loved by many and will forever be missed but never forgotten.
Services will be held at Garden Of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001, on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm with a funeral service starting at 3:00 pm.
