Oscar Miller Edmonson, a resident of Crown Point, La for the last 41 years, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 at his home. He was 88 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Millie Edmonson, and his sister, Juanita Rabon.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Dean Edmonson; his brother, William Edmonson (Hazel); 5 children, Kathy Webb (Chris), Buddy Edmonson (Tammy), Susan Figaro (Mike), Lee Edmonson, Ricee Hurley (Scott) and Sam the dog; 7 grandchildren, Anthony Figaro (Stephanie), Nico Figaro (Kathryn), Melissa Duthu (Dave), Laci Bordelon (Chase), Tanner Edmonson, Madelyn Edmonson, and Jack Hurley; 3 great-grandchildren, Dominic Figaro, Isabella Figaro, and Luke Duthu; and 4 nieces.
Oscar retired from T.L James in 1997 after 43 years. He worked hard and played hard. He learned things being “hands on,” and that’s how he taught his children. However, you had to do it the way he showed you. Oscar was kind of a perfectionist. He also loved gardening. His handshake was his bond.
The family wishes to specially thank the firemen at Lafitte-Barataria-Crown Point Volunteer Station for all their assistance over the years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 14, 2019 in the chapel of Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation will be held prior to services from 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
