Nelda Dupuy Jouandot

Nelda Marie Dupuy passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. She was born in Marksville, LA to her beloved parents Charles and Hazel Dupuy on January 23, 1931. She was an only child who adored her large family of close relatives and cherished her time living and visiting them all in “the country.” She attended Sophie B. Wright High School in New Orleans, and then a few years later married her husband of 67 years, Donald Jouandot, in 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he was stationed in the Air Force at the time. They made New Orleans and then Metairie their home (with a brief few years in Baton Rouge), and raised three daughters who loved them dearly.
Nelda was the quintessential homemaker who loved to cook, bake, sew and garden. She was actually a fabulous cook and the envy of all her friends in this department. She had a beautiful singing voice, and her children grew up with wonderful memories of their Mom and Dad’s musical duets. Nelda had a successful career of real estate both in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas, and she really loved helping her clients realize the American dream of home-ownership.
Nelda had a great sense of humor, never met a stranger, and enjoyed lively discussions. And her love of clipping newspaper recipes and discount coupons brought this art to a new level. But her greatest accomplishment during her 91 years on earth was her deep love of our Lord Jesus Christ and the faith legacy she has left to her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and her great-great granddaughter. Nelda was a true Proverbs 31 woman: “Her children will rise up and call her blessed; her husband also.” Well done, thou good and faithful servant!
She is survived by her three daughters: Karen Guarisco (Gary), Janie Boudreaux (Dan), and Pam Migliore (Tony); nine grandchildren: Andrea Lanehart (Scott), Bryan Guarisco, Brandon Boudreaux (Denise), Amanda Noonan (Brendan), Allyson Baker (Chris), Craig Passons (Brittany), Brett Boudreaux, Erica Passons (Emanuel), and Katie Bradley (Scott); fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 4921 W. Metairie Ave., Metairie, LA 70001 will be on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, with a Mass starting at 1:00 pm followed by interment in the Garden of Memories Cemetery where Nelda will be buried next to her loving husband, Donald.
