Mary Ann Haydel O’Brien passed away on August 2, 2022 after a long and valiant struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Madeline Tregre Haydel; her siblings: Leonce Haydel and Yvonne Torres, and son Jerry O’Brien Jr. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Gerard “Jerry” O’Brien; her children: Bonnie Fischer (Greg), Gregory O’Brien (Aleta) and Madelyn Klein (Les); her grandchildren: Collin, Camille, Corrie, Casey, Caitlyn, Gregory Jr., Lauren and Greggie; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, John Haydel Jr. (Linda) and many nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was employed by the Archdiocese of New Orleans for over 26 years. She was a talented artist and member of the Metairie Art Guild. Mary Ann was a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Church and was a former parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord. Visitation will be held at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 10021 Jefferson Hwy., River Ridge, Louisiana 70123 on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will take place at 11:30 a.m. followed immediately by interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, Louisiana 70001.
