Mary Jane Chopin

Mary Jane Chopin passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe Bamber and Mami Rachal; her late husbands: Harry Dupont, Perry Tank, and Ferd Chopin; her children: Mark Joseph Dupont and Suzette Dupont Leonard; and her grandson, Matthew Leonard. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Weise and Betty Ingegniero, her grandchildren, Mami Jane Mixon (Bradley) and Brandon Dupont; great-grandchildren, Charlie Mixon and Noah Mixon; her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Lewis (Jeff); and son-in-law, Kent Leonard. Mary is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary worked in several hospitals and nursing homes as a surgical nurse. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family very much. Mary traveled the entire United States and has lived a life full of joy, love, and adventure. She always said her rosary.
Mary loved her flowers, angels, harvesting and caring for butterflies and all animals, but especially her parrot, Lilly and her love bird, Jazey. Throughout her life she owned and cared for many pets and loved them all the same. She will be missed very much.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Tharp Sontheimer Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m with a service following at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the care of Garden of Memories Funeral Home.
