Mary Jo Chatagnier

Mary Jo Cooksey Chatagnier was at home surrounded by her family when she passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the age of 89. She was married to her beloved husband of 71 years, Kenneth Norbit Chatagnier. Survived by her loving children, Stanley Ray Chatagnier (Charlene), Steve Chatagnier, Sherri Chatagnier Kelley; Grandchildren, Mary Ann Cline (Trey), Elizabeth Orobono (Fran), Ray Michael Chatagnier (JeanneMarie), Chad Nathan Chatagnier (Angelle), Sonya Cummiskey (Gavin), Shalea Madorin (Kyle), Jacob Paul Kelley and Jordan David Kelley and loved by 19 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Mike and Clara Belle Cooksey and son Kenny Chatagnier, Jr. as well as her siblings, Jerry Payne, Shirley Wendler, Clarence Cooksey, Michael and Marvin Cooksey. Mary was loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary Jo was a member and served on the board of the Women’s Aglow Organization. She counseled with the 700 club, sang in the St. Louis King of France choir for over a decade, and enjoyed volunteer work at East Jefferson Hospital. She modeled on many TV commercials in the infant stages of television but her primary role in life was loving her husband Kenneth and entertaining her friends and family using her beautiful home, her gift of cooking and loving all who crossed her threshold. She displayed grace, class and charmed all who knew her with her love of Jesus. A true believer who through her boldness led many to the Love of Christ!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70001 on Friday, March 31, 2023.
