Mary Waguespack Callen

Mary Waguespack Callen passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Mary was born on February 13, 1929 to the late Azema and Arthur Waguespack. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Leo Callen, son, Darryl, and four siblings, Gloria Johnson, Rosemary Morgavio, Margaret Stauder, and Donald Waguespack. She is survived by her children Deborah Feemster (Richard), David M. Callen (Jo Ann), Denice Middleton (Wayne), Donna Guidry (Darin), and Danielle Humphrey (Larry), her daughter-in-law, Veronica, her brothers Pete, Ronald, Henry and Joseph Waguespack, thirteen grandchildren and 11 great grand-children.

She was an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family, all of whom she loved with all of her heart. Mary loved to bake and decorate beautiful cakes for her friends and family for birthdays, weddings and showers. She was an accomplished seamstress who made each of her daughter’s wedding dresses by hand. Mary, along with her husband, was active in their parish church, Our Lady of Divine Providence, and they were St. Louis Medal recipients.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 12:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider donations in Mary’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
