September 22, 1941 ~ July 14, 2018 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Tribute

Lucas Henry Bacino, known to friends as Luke, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the age of 76. He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Metairie, LA for the past 40 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Anthony Bacino and his mother, Dolores Spansel Bacino. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Andrea Hernandez Bacino; his brother, Walter J. Bacino and his children, Jessica Cerruti (Jonathan), Paul Bacino (Toni) and Monica Bacino. He was a loving grandfather, known as Papa Luke to his 12 grandchildren: Mia Dessommes, Julia Hampton, Miles, Josephine, Lucille, and Samuel Bacino, Vivian, Joseph, John, Annabel, James, and Rosalie Cerruti. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Luke was raised in Sacred Heart of Jesus parish in Mid-City in New Orleans where he attended grammar school. He graduated high school from Holy Cross Seminary College in Notre Dame, Indiana. He was a banker for 48 years and a retiree of Whitney National bank.
In 1978, he received the Order of St. Louis award from the Archdiocese of New Orleans for his service to Sacred Heart parish. After moving to Metairie, Luke joined St. Christopher parish where he served as a Lector and Eucharistic minister. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus council number 4508 where he served as Grand Knight from 1999-2000. It was very important to him to be involved in the ministry of his parish. Luke was forever the life of the party loving to make others laugh and enjoy themselves with his endless jokes. His Catholic faith was the most important thing in his life. He understood his purpose in this life – to know, love and serve God so that he could be happy with Him in heaven for all eternity – which he wonderfully instilled within his children.
A celebration of Luke’s life will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. Christopher the Martyr Church, 309 Manson Avenue in Metairie. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be private in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. After the Mass, please join Luke’s family for a reception in the parish center of St. Christopher.
