Lidia Fuentes Rivera has gained her angel wings and ascended into heaven on Thursday October 4, 2018 at the age of 81. Lidia was native of La Lima, Honduras and a 54-year resident of Kenner, Louisiana. For most of her young life, she was a nurse at La Lima General Hospital in Honduras. When she came to the U.S., she became a chef and spent the remainder of her adult life giving New Orleanians culinary happiness.
Lidia was the matriarch of our family. She lived life to the fullest through the simple pleasures shared with others. Sunday gatherings at her home were a favorite, filled with friends and family, most especially her beloved sisters. Lidia had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Her relationships with God, her children, her family, and anyone she would meet were always encouraging. She was a strong, strong-willed, brave, and extremely kind-spirited woman whose legacy will never be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her husband Curt Wulf; her brother, Reynaldo Rivera; three sisters: Maria Santos Rivera Ochoa, Rosa Amelia Marcia, M. Mercedes Palacios and a niece, Dahlia D. Marcia. She is survived by her devoted sons, Karl (Maritza) Wulf and Dennis Fuentes. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Karin Wulf (Kris Roux), Karl S. Wulf and Layne Fuentes; her two great-granddaughters, Grace M. Malkiewicz and Emma M. Roux; five nieces: Rosa H., Arleth, Vivian, Jackie, Julie and five nephews: Oscar M., Omar R., Hernan E., Javier D. and Johnny M.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, October 7, 2018, from 12-2 pm and on Monday, October 8, 2018, from 12-2 pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Garden of Memories. A private Interment will follow.
