Lesbia "Les" Ayala Brevé

December 22, 1925 ~ October 27, 2022 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Tribute

Lesbia (Les) Ayala Brevé, adoringly known to her grand and great-grandchildren as “Vivi” and “Gagi” passed to her eternal life on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the age of 96 in Covington, LA.
Mrs. Brevé was a resident of La Lima, Covington and New Orleans, cities she loved dearly. She is survived by her three beloved children, Suzette Brevé Herpich (Rudy), Nelson Brevé (Stevie), and Claudette Brevé (Chad), Grandmother of Stanley E. Brevé (Rodrigo), Nelson Hobart “Bart” Brevé (JP), Meredith Brevé Beauregard (Robert), Dr. Byron Herpich (Kelly), Andrew Herpich (Holly) and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as her beloved Katherine Edwards whom she thought of as a granddaughter.

Mrs. Brevé was an alumna of St. Scholastica Academy, Covington, LA. having graduated with Class of 1944. She was a homemaker during the early years of her married life but still managed to hone her Canasta skills with her treasured Canasta Club ladies and also played on a ladies golf team. She was extremely proud of her 7 handicap and the many tournaments her team won; confirmed by many trophies she proudly displayed on the family room mantel. She worked tirelessly as a medical interpreter, first at the old Brown-McHardy Clinic and retired from both Ochsner Clinic and Ochsner Hospital (Ochsner Health). When she departed Ochsner she left behind a number of colleagues and friends and stayed in touch with many of them until her health declined.

She leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews and other family members as well as countless friends whom she adored and whose prayers carried her through the end. She ran a bed and breakfast, way ahead of her time, for many high school borders and college students that were unable to return home during the holidays. She was loved by all as they saw her as more than just a holiday stand-in mother and they quickly became part of our extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 siblings and is survived by her sister-in law Adriana Gomez Ayala of Milton, FL.

The family would like to thank Trinity Trace Community Care Center, Covington, LA. our mother’s residence for the last 1.5 years for the professional care they provided, and the many “angels” whose loving care helped get her through her final days; particularly Jasmine, Kotera, Stephanie, Jacqueline and Rachel. We apologize for any others we may have omitted.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rita Catholic Church, 2729 Lowerline St. New Orleans, LA. 70125.
