Tribute

Lawrence M. Kramer, Jr. died peacefully on the evening of September 11, 2019 at the age of 91. He had been a resident of the Chateau Living Center facility in Kenner, Louisiana for the past year and half. He was born to the late Lawrence M. Kramer and Lillian Kramer on February 29, 1928 and grew up on Monroe Street in New Orleans. He had one sister, the late Shirley K. Young, and is survived by his two children, Randal A. Kramer and Lori L. Kramer.

He was a student at Fortier High School in New Orleans and, following graduation, he served in the U.S. Naval Service from 1946 through 1948. After an honorable discharge from the military, he returned to New Orleans where he became co-owner of the LaRay’s Bowling Alley on Dryades Street. He then went to work for WDSU-TV in the mid-50’s as a camera operator. He retired in the 90s after 40 years of dedication. He spent weekends on his farm in Folsom, Louisiana building barns and fences and tending to horses and cattle, corn and green beans.

Toward the end of his life, while sporting a 'borrowed' Panama Jack hat, Larry fancied himself an expert solitaire player and donut connoisseur.
