Krislynn Marie Helmer passed away Sunday, December 2nd at the age of 44 from complications due to rhabdomyolysis.
Krislynn was born on January 3, 1974. She attended Saint Philip Neri Grammar School, was a proud graduate of Archbishop Chapelle High School and studied Graphic Design and Drawing at Delgado Community College. A survivor of Hurricane Katrina and a current resident of Mandeville, she loved painting, nature, and a good cup of iced coffee.
Although Krislynn was born with spina bifida, it never slowed her down. She was a fiercely dedicated mother to two boys that she loved more than anything in the world. She was passionate about taking care of her family, her friends, and her feline companions. Always willing to drop anything to help those she loved, Krislynn could be counted on for an infectious smile, a lunch date, or a clever Facebook post. Her weekly Saints game cake tradition brought joy to all who participated in it, even from afar. She was an inspirational figure for all those whose lives she touched, and a constant reminder to be more kind, caring, and uplifting.
Krislynn was preceded in death by her father, the late Robert Cornelius Helmer II, and her mother-in-law, the late Penelope Tuemler Watt. She is survived by her loving partner of 22 years, Iain Karl Watt, sons Johnathan Robert and Cameron William Watt, mother Maria Helmer (Tom), sister Kathlynn Caluda (Joe), brother-in-law Alan Watt (Anna), father-in-law Ian Watt (Elizabeth), and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. Funeral services will be held at Garden of Memories on Saturday, December 8th. Visitation will be held from 9 AM-11 AM, with a prayer service to follow. Black attire is not necessary.
