Born on November 7, 1931, in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years Ellen P. MacKenzie and his parents, Joseph Henry Vincent, Jr. and Marguerite Serpas Vincent of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Joseph was raised in the 7th Ward and St. Roch neighborhoods of New Orleans. He attended Charles Gayarre School then St. Aloysius High School from which he graduated in 1948. Joseph was grateful for the formation he received from the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and exhibited those values throughout his life. Following the war, he attended and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1957 with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a minor in Spanish. Joseph was a loyal employee of the Times Picayune for 43 years (1958-2001) where he worked as a proofreader and copy editor in the Living Section.
Joseph had an unceasing curiosity which led to many hobbies and interests. He was rarely seen without a camera in hand. His favorite things included spicy food, his pets, the news, true crime stories, billiards, foreign languages, reading, art, and computers. Joseph could start a conversation with anyone anywhere and was often seen bragging about his grandchildren wherever he went. He will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, patience, and dedication to his Catholic faith. Joseph was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Cletus Parish, and most recently St. Rita Parish in Harahan.
