John "Jay" Bernard Liberto, Jr., exceptional husband and proud father, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, following a valiant battle against pancreatic cancer. He was 55 years old. Jay was a native of New Orleans and lifelong Jefferson Parish resident. A graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School, Jay attended LSU, then returned home to join and continue building the family legacy that is Liberto Cleaners. A kind-hearted, humble man, with a keen sense of humor, simple tastes, and deep faith, Jay liked nothing more than laughing and spending time with his wife, children, and other family members.
Jay is survived by his devoted wife of over 33 years, Courtney Davis Liberto; his three remarkable children, Ashley Hunter (Justin), Michael (Lauren Benit), and Allison; and a beautiful granddaughter, Julia. Jay is the son of John Bernard "J.B." Liberto, Sr. and the late Patricia "Patsy" Canal Liberto. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Pat Walter (Johnny) and Lisa Duncan (Billy); a brother, Patrick (Molly); his mother-in-law, Charlotte Suire Davis; his father-in-law, Edson Davis; a sister-in-law, Yvette Frederick (Brent); two brothers-in-law, Edson Davis (Jenny Hargrave) and Christopher Davis (Courtney); and numerous nieces and nephews. Jay wanted to thank his family, his loyal employees, Jina Cuccia Schweizer, Yvette Frederick, and Angie Christina for the devotion and care they showed Courtney, the children, and him during his illness.
