Jewell Fiegel Duplantis

Jewell Fiegel Duplantis of Luling, LA, age 88, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018.  She was born in Houston, Texas on August 1, 1930. She worked at Baptist Hospital in the Credit Union and later worked for International-Matex Tank Terminal as a Traffic Manager taking care of her clients by monitoring their product shipments to and from ships into their liquid storage terminals. She met her husband, Louis D. Duplantis (Dee) and fell in love with him and his motorcycle. They had a rare motorcycle accident as they were waiting for a train the bike slipped in gear and hit a box car. With only minor injuries, God's plan was for them to pass along their love, determination, hard work, family dedication and their spiritual convictions to their two children: Craig David Duplantis and Kathleen Marie Duplantis Ackerman. Over the years, she was the church pianist at First Baptist Church of Luling. Once retired, she and Dee traveled to see the United States and visit with family and friends. Over the last three years, she has resided in Alpharetta, GA to be near her daughter for her care. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Paula C. Duplantis; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Paul Ackerman; four grandchildren:  Nathan David Duplantis, Jennifer Marie Duplantis Ricks, Christopher David Mills, and Leila Marie Moore; one great-grandchild: Jett David Duplantis; and one great-grandchild arriving soon, Baby Ricks (to be born sometime in January 2019).
Jewell was preceded in death by her husband, Louis David Duplantis; her parents, Newell Fiegel and Pearl Lyons Fiegel; and her sibling, Robert Newell Fiegel, Sr.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the services on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Family visitation will be 10:00 am to 10:30 am with public visitation starting at 10:30 am and the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm followed by interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the following organizations:  American Heart Association; First Baptist Church of Luling, 921 Paul Maillard Rd, Luling, LA 70070; or Atlanta Tamil Church, 4798 Buford Hwy, Norcross, GA 30071.
