Jennie I. Ebanks, aged 85, of New Orleans, Louisiana, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, November 7, 2021. She was born on June 23, 1936 in Guanaja, Bay Islands, Honduras. She was preceded in death by her father, Louis L. Hurlston; her mother, Adeline (Haylock) Hurlston; her aunt (who raised her), Retta Mazie Haylock; her husband, Jerral Ebanks; a grandson, Jorge Valdivieso and two great-grandsons, Devin Kylon Davis and Dorian Isaiah Davis. Jennie is survived by her loving children, Alma Taylor, Doris Bonilla and Jose Taylor; six grandchildren: Reon Bonilla, Devin Bonilla, Alejandro Valdivieso, Jennie Carter, Joseph Taylor, and Nathan Taylor; two great grandchildren, Daniel Bonilla and Milan Collins in addition to a host of cousins, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly, notably the beloved family dog Jack who kept a watchful eye over her. She was a baptized member of the New Orleans Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church and a devout Christian who loved God and contributed much of her free time to charitable works and helping those less fortunate. She had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched.
All are welcome to attend services on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. followed by the service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, Louisiana.
