Irby Landry Laborde

Irby Landry Laborde, also known as “Pops”, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the age of 84 with his wife and sons by his side. He was born in Bordelonville, LA to the late Amie and Irby E. Laborde. He was preceded in death by his 7 siblings: Bernard Laborde, Odell St. Romain, Mack Laborde, Loretta Armand, Hartwell Laborde, Clara Reggio, and John Laborde. Pops leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Alberta Bordelon Laborde; his 3 sons and their wives: Michael J. Laborde (Janine), James J. Laborde (Sandra), and Perry J. Laborde; and 4 grandchildren: Katelyn, Breanna, Perry, and Nicholas Laborde. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Irby was a longtime resident of Metairie, LA. He graduated from Bordelonville High School and attended Tulane University. He was drafted in 1961 and served in the U.S. Army for 4 years. Pops was a dedicated family man and loved entertaining the family with seafood boils.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 4921 W Metairie Ave, Metairie, LA 70001 on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with Mass starting at 12:00 pm followed by interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Garden of Memories Funeral Home.
