Harold J. Schlumbrecht

Harold Joseph “Joe” Schlumbrecht, Sr. (84), of Metairie, Louisiana, was called home by our Heavenly Father on January 23, 2023, with his loving family at his side. He leaves behind his children, Sandra LeJeune, Harold Schlumbrecht, Jr. (Denise), Michael Schlumbrecht (Janie), and Steven Schlumbrecht (Natasha). He was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Renee, Cherie, Archie, Ryan, Jason, Caila, Tiffany, Heather, Carson and Finn, along with 13 great-grandchildren: Andrew, Mia, Jacob, William, Logan, Sophia, Mikaela, Isabella, Holland, Olivia, Colt, Weston and Charlotte. Joe leaves behind his sisters Rosemary Babin and Jackie Daigre. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Sandra Jean Schlumbrecht and his parents Harold Vincent Schlumbrecht and Jeanne Wild Schlumbrecht. Joe worked for the City of New Orleans Department of Streets for 30 years. He was an excellent mechanic who worked for Ed Rollins and Jim Tabor Marine rebuilding inboard/outboard boat motors. He loved working and restoring classic cars and was a member of the East Jefferson Cruisers for many years. Joe was an avid fisherman who loved being out on the water spending time in Grand Isle, Hopedale and Delacroix. He also loved spending time assisting his son on movie sets and helping at the mechanic shop. His biggest joys were being surrounded by his family and spending time with his dog Lily. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA. 70001. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with a mass beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
