Gloria Mitchell

Gloria Mitchell, 63, of Metairie, LA, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 and was preceded in death by her parents, William and Johnnie Mitchell. Gloria is survived by her two sisters, Ruth LaCaze of Fulshear, TX and Donna Fischer of Lafayette, LA. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews including Eric Fischer (wife Tracy Protti and daughter Lilly Fischer), Brian Fischer, Jeremy LaCaze, and Rachel LaCaze. She was also known as "Aunt Gloria" to many of her friends’ children and grandchildren.  Gloria was a proud graduate of Morgan City High School, attended Nichols State University and graduated from LSU.  Gloria worked as a legal assistant in New Orleans for nearly 40 years beginning with Phelps Dunbar in the early 80's and later retiring from Baker Donelson where she made lifelong friends.  Gloria was known as a person who cared greatly for all around her and never missed an opportunity to give a card or gift to let those in her life know they were special to her.  She also never missed an opportunity to hold her friends or family accountable if they could do better. Gloria loved sports and was an avid Saints fan.  Gloria also loved to travel and had many adventures around the world.  The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Ochsner Hospital and Passages Hospice who took care of her. 
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70119.  Visitation begins at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life beginning at 12:00 pm.  Those able to attend are invited to dress in Mardi Gras, Saints or LSU colors.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrf.org).
