George P. Mazzeno (Paul), of Metairie, Louisiana passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the age of 94. George was born March 10, 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Rock Mazzeno. Loving Father of George Mazzeno Jr., Katherine Sparacello (Kitten), Donna Nell Mazzeno, Kurt Mazzeno, Gina Dumesnil-Legendre, and the late Cynthia M. Johnson. Father in Law of Frank Sparacello, Rebecka Rocquin-Mazzeno, Raymond Legendre Jr., Curtis Randazzo and the late Roland D. Johnson and Artie J. Dumesnil. Also survived by his brother Laurence W. Mazzeno Jr. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mildred Lefante, Shirley Lefante, and Edward (EJ) Mazzeno, and his parents, Laurence W. Mazzeno and Aline Simoneaux Mazzeno. Also survived by 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
George was an active parishioner of Our Lady Of Divine Providence Church for 47 years. He was a member of The Men's Club, and also an Usher at Church services. He was also very active in the Cub Scouts of America.
George was a longtime member of the Society of American Magicians, SAM Assembly #36, International Brotherhood of Magicians and IBM Ring 27 for over 40 years.
George was a WWII Veteran and also received a Purple Heart. He was active in many military service organizations as an Officer and a Member: American Legion Post 397, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 37, Catholic War Veterans Post 1969, Veterans of Foreign War Post 3267, National Order of Trench Rats Dug Out 53, VA Hospital Community Consult, and The Military Order of Purple Heart.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001. Group presentations will begin at 1:00 pm and service will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Due to state regulations, masks are required at all times and social distancing must be observed.
