Frank "Mel" Odems Jr.

Frank “Mel” Odems, Jr. passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the age of 64. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Vanessa Gauthier Odems; as well as his siblings: Sandra Odems, Sheryl Odems (Benjamin Lackey), and Steven Odems; his parents-in-law, Gertrude and Nolan Gauthier; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Odems, Sr. and Shirley Ward Odems.
Mel was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Kenner for the past 32 years. He was a natural and talented salesman and enjoyed his job selling boats. He liked traveling with his wife, cooking, and going to movies. Mel was a caring husband and brother and loved his dogs, Piper and Ziva.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70001 on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with a service starting at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louisiana SPCA at https://www.louisianaspca.org/.
