Tribute

Betty Gardello Trahan passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the age of 74. She was born June 24, 1948 to the late Mary M. Gardello and James V. Gardello. Betty was born and raised in Memphis, TN with her brother, the late James V. Gardello Jr. For 24 years Betty was the beloved wife to the late Ronald F. Trahan. She raised her twin children – Melissa A. Trahan and Michael J. Trahan. She was the loving grandmother of Gannon J. Bornholdt. Her memory lives on with her niece, Teresa G. Lackie, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews. She will be missed & remembered by the numerous lives she touched.
Betty was a thoughtful soul & a very generous person. She dedicated her life to loving the people around her. She was also a fighter with strength and courage that allowed her to persevere throughout her journey. She gave us everlasting laughter especially with her unforgettable expressions & frequently said quote of “Oh My God”. She was special in her own way. She enjoyed traveling and weekend getaways with her best friends, Laura L. Triche & Heidi L. Dennis. “Betty Boop” was their sister by heart. She especially enjoyed going out to eat, attending parties, and family events. She loved spending time with her girls for pajama sleepovers or a girls day for nails and hair. Betty always looked forward to spending quality time with her children and going to the movies. She treasured every moment that she was able to share with her grandson. She adored reading books & playing with Gannon. She had a passion for shopping for sales & loved finding good bargains. Setting aside time to watch the food network, HGTV or her favorite soaps were relaxing and comforting for her. Betty found much pleasure in attending senior luncheons, playing bingo & games. She was a member of Metairie Senior Center, the Red Hat Hotties, CherAmes Senior Group of St. Benilde, and the Girard Playground Golden Ages. She worked as a state employee and retired after 28 years from Wildlife and Fisheries. Betty is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
The family of Betty wishes to thank her Doctors & medical staff for all the medical care and treatment they provided along with their dedication, kindness, and compassion during her stay at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston, TX. No matter what, Betty always had a smile on her face and was a remarkable “Miracle”.
