Dolores W Schwartz

Dolores "Doty" Whitney Schwartz passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 22, 2021 surrounded by her loving family in Mississippi. She was 93 years old. She was born on January 25, 1928 in Houma, Louisiana, to the late Hayes J Whitney and Maude Bergeron Whitney. She was one of 18 children. She was a life-long resident of River Ridge where she resided with her family. Dolores was a graduate of Terrebonne High School and graduate from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She loved her trade as a registered nurse. Dolores leaves behind many sweet and funny memories that will be cherished forever.
Survivors include her children: George Schwartz Jr., (Kim), Jean Elliott (Bob), Julie Alverson (Steve) and Ruth Andry (Theo). She had 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her surviving siblings include Margaret Granberry, Catherine Theriot, Judy Guidroz, Rose Long, Anne Gueniot, Anita Kelpsch and Milton (Bud) Whitney. Along with her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband, George Balsar Schwartz, and her siblings: Hayes Whitney Jr., Roberta Farris, Barbara Davis, Bessie Waguespack, Virginia (Tootie) LeMaire, Jeanne Broussard, James Whitney, Louis Whitney, Evelyn Pike, and Mae Saia.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the funeral services on Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with a Memorial Service at 1pm. Interment will be held immediately after.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mom’s devoted caregiver, Susie Price. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be given in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
