Constance Killeen-Bannon

August 23, 1929 ~ October 17, 2018 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Connie Killeen-Bannon passed away on October 17, 2018 at the age of 89. Although she was born in Chicago, New Orleans was her home for over 75 years.
Connie was a beautiful woman in many ways. A former model and co-founder of The Fashion Mannequins, she appeared in Town & Country magazine as one of New Orleans’ most glamorous women. But her beauty extended inside as well. She worked tirelessly for the mentally retarded and was a persistent advocate for people and animals without a voice. She made friends with everyone she met. She was a nurturer and mentor. She was daring and, as one of her grandchildren said, “ahead of her time.”
In her early years Connie was an avid sailor, competing in the Olympic class Star boat. She was the only female sailor to win the Sir Thomas Lipton Cup for the Gulf Coast Championship. An honorary member of the Southern Yacht Club, her love of sailing was carried out for all of her life.
Connie is survived by her five children: Laura Lee Killeen, Nina Killeen, Joseph Killeen III, Shannon Killeen Barton (John Wynne) and Shawn Killeen (Suzette). She has nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and five step-children. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Joseph “Buzzy” Killeen, and her second husband, Robert Bannon. She also leaves behind her cherished dog “Sweet”.
Per her wishes, funeral services were private. For those who wish to make a donation in her memory, please do so to a charity of your choice.
