Carlen McCloskey Bourgeois, 67, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away on May 22, 2025, after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer.
Carlen McCloskey Bourgeois was born on May 13, 1958, to Charles and Dorothy McCloskey in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduating from Dominican High School in 1976, she went on to study voice at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
Carlen found her true calling in the Human Resources profession for the non-profit, private, and federal government sectors, finally serving 20 years with the Transportation Security Administration from its creation till her retirement in 2023.
In 1984, Carlen met Phil and, after a “When Harry Met Sally” relationship, they wed in 1994, going on to have two beautiful daughters, Moira and Erin. Carlen was predeceased by her mother, Dorothy; father, Charles; and younger brother, Charlie. Carlen is survived by her six younger siblings: Vaune, Laure, Mary, John, Emily, and Michael.
Carlen and Phil wish to thank the team at LSU Gynecologic Oncology Department and the staff of Southeast Home Health and Southern Grace Hospice for the dedicated and loving care they provided to Carlen on this difficult journey. Carlen and Phil would also like to thank family and friends for their undying love and support. God bless you all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70001 on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm and also on Friday, May 30, 2025 starting at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.
