Barbara Lee Finch Brown, 86, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017. She was born on July 14, 1930 in Lebanon, Indiana to Roy and Stella Finch.
Barbara worked for thirty two years as an RN before retiring from Ochsner Foundation Hospital where she was often asked by John Ochsner to scrub for him in surgery. Barbara married R.L. Brown on August 25, 1951. They then moved their growing family to Louisiana so that Barbara could pursue her career in nursing. Barbara is survived by her sons: James C. Sloan of Westmoreland, Tennessee, Kenneth Brown of Jasper, Georgia, Thomas Brown and wife Marti of Tylertown, Mississippi; her daughter, Brenda Dyson of Tylertown, Mississippi; her daughter-in-laws, Kathy Brown and Beth Brown; eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Brown; her sons, Robert Brown and Steven Brown; her son-in-law, Michael Dyson; her granddaughter, Michelle Brown and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Fortenberry.
A Funeral Service will be held at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M. Interment will be in the Jeffersonian Mausoleum located in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
