Angelina "Lena" Macaluso Clesi

Angelina “Lena” Macaluso Clesi, age 96, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on April 24, 2018. She was born on August 30, 1921 to Giuseppe Macaluso and Catarina Randazzo Macaluso. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph L. Clesi, Jr. and her son, Joseph L. Clesi, III. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Clesi Johnson (John); her two sons, Gerard Clesi (Alicia) and Alan Clesi (Nicole); five grandchildren: Christopher Johnson (Erin), David Johnson, Laura Clesi Knight (Joshua), Daniel Clesi (Jillian) and Taylor Clesi; three great-grandchildren: Katherine Johnson, Meredith Johnson and Benjamin Johnson along with many nieces and nephews. Lena was an active parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church in Harahan and the Harahan Senior Citizens Center. She was also the Chaplain of the VFW Post 3267 Ladies Auxiliary for many years. In Lena’s earlier years, she was a Junior Olympic swimmer and proudly spoke of swimming with “Tarzan” actor, Johnny Weissmuller.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Rita’s Church, 7100 Jefferson Hwy. in Harahan, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
