Adele Creel Engelbracht passed away at home on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 surrounded by family. This beautiful bright star burnt out long before her time. Adele is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ethel Creel, and her father-in-law, Merlin Engelbracht, Sr. Adele is survived by her loving husband, Merlin Engelbracht, Jr.; her daughters, Melissa Norris (Jason) and Tiffany Parks (Justin); her son, Matthew Engelbracht (Lindsey); her grandchildren: Nina, Mark, Zack, Chase, Riann, Mac, Danny, Austin, and Madalyn; her brother, Albert Creel, Jr. (Cindy); her sister, Barbara Pellerin (Terry); her mother-in-law, Joyce Engelbracht; and her sister-in-law, Carol Adoue (Tom). She was known as "Auntie" to many nieces and nephews and most recently "Mere" to all her babies.
Adele was born August 25, 1953 in New Orleans where she met the love of her life at St. Matthew UCC on Carrollton and got married May 19, 1973. Adele was a devoted teacher with the Jefferson Parish Public School System for over 30 years. But she was more than just a teacher of the classroom. This amazing, inspiring, God-loving woman knew just what to do or say in any situation. She taught us all how to be a better person and for that we are eternally grateful.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Good Shepherd Church, 5122 W. Esplanade Ave in Metairie, LA on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a service starting at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Adele's name may be made to Good Shepherd Church, 5122 W. Esplanade Ave. Metairie, LA 70006.
