Virginia Russo Canova passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the age of 91. She was born on December 12, 1925 in Donaldsonville, LA to the late Leonard and Bena Russo. She was the wife to the late Felix Anthony Canova for 45 years. Mother of Phyllis Canova McCaslin (Bobby) and Anthony Leonard Canova (Diane). Grandmother of Scott David McCaslin (Heather), Katie McCaslin Carpenter (Shane), Anthony Leonard Canova Jr., Tonya Canova Richards, Tara Canova Jenkins (James), and 10 great-grandchildren. Sister of Michael Russo (Laura), John Russo (Laura), and Joseph Russo (Gladys). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia was a longtime resident of Metairie, LA and parishioner of St. Edwards the Confessor. She has been a resident of Heritage Healthcare Nursing Facility in Hammond for the past 4 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until Mass time. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.
