Lois Kathryn Olthoff Finley was born January 19, 1917 in Holland, Michigan, and passed away on October 13, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents: Frederick Olthoff and Wilhelmina Hamilink Olthoff. Lois is survived by her children, James Carl Finley (Lynne C. Lois came to New Orleans from Michigan at the age of 17 working as a secretary, moving to Old Jefferson after her marriage. When her children became enrolled in school, Lois began learning to play tennis, which she would continue playing for over 60 years! She played and was active in the Jefferson Ladies Tennis Club and later with the Orleans Women’s Tennis Club at the City Park. She served both clubs in several officer positions and wrote a column for the newsletter “The Racket” called “Lobbing with Lois”. She played in the local Virginia Fats Tournaments. She loved to travel and was lucky enough to travel the world sometimes with her daughter Joelle and other times with one or more of her many great friends. She enjoyed her long life to the fullest and loved her family. Private Services were held at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com .
We wish to thank her wonderful and loving caregivers who loved her for the last 3 years, Laura Preston, Carol Graffam, Antranet Wilson and Mieeka Bailey. We also thank the loving care given to her in the last 2 weeks of her life by the nurses and staff of Passages Hospice.
