Joseph William Hunt, Jr., age 94, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Mr. Hunt was born in New Orleans, LA on January 15, 1923. The beloved husband of 56 years to the late Florence Wolfe Hunt. Father of Paula Carrie Hunt Waguespack and Jennifer Caroline Hunt. Father-in-law of Gary Stephen Waguespack. Grandfather of Jason Gary Waguespack, PhD and Jaime Jennifer Waguespack. Great-grandfather of Katie Ann Waterwall. Son of the late Joseph William Hunt, Sr. and Elida Elizabeth Simoneaux Hunt. Brother of Roger Allen Hunt, Sr. Mr. Hunt was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Metairie since 1959. He served in the United States Merchant Marines and the United States Army Transport Service as Third Mate during World War II. He graduated from Delgado Community College in 1983. He was a member of American Legion Post 397, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3267, the Military Order of the Cootie of the U.S. Pup Tent LA 19, the Disabled America Veterans (DAV) Jefferson Chapter 37, the National Order of the Trench Rats Dugout no. 53, New Orleans Chapter and the Catholic War Veterans of the U.S. of America, Inc. Post 1969 in River Ridge, LA. Also, he was a former member of the Metairie Art Guild. Mr. Hunt was an artist, sign painter, billboard designer and an art instructor at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, LA for 16 years.
A private burial will be held in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA.
