Ara Creighton Lee passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the age of 89. She was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late James J. Lee, Sr. who went to heaven in 1997. She was the mother of Sandy Lee Cali (Danny, Sr.), James Lee, Jr. (May) and Debbie Lee. Grandmother of Danny Cali, Jr., Dennis Cali, Jimmie Lee, III and Cheri Gelpi Lyons. She is also survived by six great grandchildren; a brother, Ernie Creighton; a sister, Carol Creighton Bodden and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, John and Hilda Creighton and a brother, John Creighton, Jr. Ara will always be fondly remembered for her loving and caring devotion to her handicapped daughter, Debbie. Every day for 63 years, Ara tended lovingly to Debbie and never considered her a challenge, but a gift from God. Ara’s greatest benefaction would be that parents be committed to and love their children unconditionally regardless of whether they’re healthy or handicapped. For those who cared for and loved our mom at Waldon Health Care Center, we offer a very special and beautiful thank you. Your kindnesses were greatly appreciated.
Relatives, friends of the family and the staff of Waldon Health Care Center are invited to attend a Communion Service on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Interment will be in the Chapel of Eternal Faith located in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
